Description
After her death, teacher Aoi Konominato awakens as a child in an unfamiliar fantasy world, haunted by regret over her lackluster first life and her unfulfilled goals. She is taken in by Owain, an elven sage who becomes her mentor and instructs her in the art of sorcery. Twelve years later, having mastered everything her teacher has to offer, Aoi is deemed ready to further her studies by becoming an instructor at the illustrious Fiddich Academy, the finest sorcery school in the world. Though hesitant at first, Aoi sees this position as a second chance to become her ideal vision of a teacher. However, Fiddich Academy is brimming with problems, primarily misbehaving students of noble and royal birth who are accustomed to doing whatever they please and looking down on commoners.

The protagonist, Aoi Konominato, is a stoic and highly disciplined instructor whose personality can be described as deadpan and emotionless, which often makes her come across as terrifying to those around her. Despite her fearsome reputation, she is absolutely dedicated to advancing sorcery throughout the world and is passionate about eliminating the class boundary between nobles and commoners within the educational system. She possesses overwhelming magical power, capable of single-handedly stopping conflicts between nations, and she uses her abilities responsibly to force the world into a new era of magical research and equality. Supporting characters include Elisa, a loud and lovable dwarf teacher who acts as a researcher and a sounding board for Aoi’s outrageous actions, and Prince Rox, an arrogant royal student who initially underestimates Aoi only to quickly become one of her supporters.

The setting is a standard fantasy world with a magical academy at its heart. The story follows Aoi as she establishes her classroom at Fiddich Academy, where she teaches a curriculum that emphasizes merit over birthright. The first major narrative arc involves Aoi establishing her dominance in the classroom and reforming the entitled attitudes of her students. In the second volume, the story expands beyond the school grounds. Aoi investigates a drop in class attendance and uncovers a web of exploitation run by a crime syndicate, including a gambling den luring students. With the help of Prince Rox and his men, Aoi dismantles the criminal organizations and forcibly reforms them into legitimate businesses. The latter half of the second volume sees Aoi traveling to the Holy Maple Leaf Empire as part of an exchange to study their healing magic, where she encounters a society that believes magic has reached its final form and resists her push for progress. The third volume continues from the aftermath of the Empire trip, focusing on tying up loose ends related to a student named Shenley’s family and preparing for Fiddich Academy’s upcoming cultural festival, where Aoi’s class aims to demonstrate their capabilities to the world. Throughout these arcs, Aoi remains focused on her ultimate goal of advancing sorcery and proving that with enough power and dedication, an unbiased educational system can be achieved.
