Description
A Japanese woman is reincarnated as Luxeria, the crown princess of a kingdom where magic is real and royalty holds power. Luxeria is born with overwhelming magical abilities that allow her to corrupt hearts, erase memories, and read the innermost thoughts of those around her. Because her powers make others uncomfortable and are difficult to control, she willingly agrees to live confined to a tower, isolated from court life. Her only companion is her maid Alicia, a girl who possesses a rare immunity to Luxerias magic and becomes her closest friend and confidante.
For years Luxeria remains in her tower, maintaining the public mask of a beautiful and docile puppet princess. This arrangement ends violently when the five powerful marquess houses that control much of the kingdom orchestrate a coup. Her parents, the king and queen, are murdered. Alicia is attacked and falls into a coma. Luxeria herself barely survives the attempt on her life. Forced to step out of self-imposed exile, she returns to the front stage as the successor to the throne, but the woman who emerges is no longer content to be a passive doll.
Driven by a cold and burning desire for revenge against the marquess families who destroyed her life, Luxeria begins playing a long and treacherous game. She must maintain the illusion of being the perfect puppet ruler, docile and easily controlled, while secretly orchestrating the downfall of her enemies. Unlike typical villainess narratives where the protagonist is merely misunderstood, Luxeria is genuinely ruthless in her pursuit of vengeance. However, she also recognizes that destroying the kingdom in the process would be pointless, and so she pursues a parallel goal of reforming the realm into a more equal and just society, surrounding herself with competent and loyal servants recruited from various circumstances.
The story opens with a dramatic scene of Luxeria stabbing her groom on their wedding day in front of the entire wedding party before backtracking to explain how events reached that point. The narrative is darker and more tragic than the authors previous work, dealing with themes of betrayal, political conspiracy, and the cost of revenge. Luxerias relationship with her maid Alicia forms the emotional heart of the series, built on deep trust and years of shared isolation. Other notable characters include a spy who initially tried to kill Luxeria before being recruited into her service, and a tragic groom whose role in the story remains fraught with complication. Over the course of the series, Luxeria navigates the complex political landscape of a monarchy undermined by powerful noble houses, using both her dangerous magic and her strategic mind to eliminate her enemies while building a better kingdom from the ashes of her parents murder.
