Description
A hero has been chosen by the divine blade and is destined to set out on a journey to defeat the archfiend. Yet a secret prophecy emerges from the shadows, foretelling that this hero will be cut down long before she ever reaches the archfiend's stronghold. To avert this disaster, the temple dispatches a man named Rhuys Ferme, tasking him with secretly redirecting the stream of events that would lead to the hero’s death while keeping the omen hidden from the public. The mission proves too great for one person, so Rhuys seeks out Araignée, an adventurer with a notorious reputation and formidable skills. Araignée agrees to help, but her price is steep, and it quickly becomes clear that money alone will not cover the cost of what she demands.
The story unfolds in a fantasy world where grand prophecies and legendary quests follow a familiar pattern, yet the narrative focuses on the obscured side of that journey. Rhuys Ferme operates from the shadows as a fixer of fate, tasked with altering destiny without the hero or the world ever knowing. Araignée serves as his unpredictable counterpart, motivated by enigmatic personal stakes that complicate their partnership. Their uneasy alliance drives much of the tension, as the true price of her cooperation threatens to extract something far more valuable than gold.
As they work to eliminate the threats along the hero's path and neutralize the prophecy’s dark prediction, Rhuys and Araignée must navigate a web of temple politics, hidden enemies, and moral compromises. The narrative arcs explore the burden of unsung labor, the cost of preserving a heroic legend, and the complex relationship between two people forced to rely on each other while keeping their true goals and secrets buried. The series follows their clandestine efforts to ensure the hero reaches her final confrontation, even as the line between protecting the future and manipulating it grows dangerously thin.
