Description
Tsumugi Yokoyama is a run-of-the-mill office worker whose daily life at work has become a nightmare. She is relentlessly bullied by her seniors, leaving her feeling isolated and helpless just trying to get through each day. Her rescuer comes in the form of her boss, a man named Masuda, who steps in to shield her from her tormentors. He offers her a refreshing smile and a strangely poignant reassurance: It is his privilege as her boss to see her cry. Thanks to his kindness and support, Tsumugi begins to feel full of life again, finding solace in the workplace that had once been a source of so much pain.
The narrative takes a sharp and dramatic turn when Tsumugi is involved in an accident. This traumatic event acts as a catalyst, completely changing Masuda’s personality and the nature of their relationship. The gentle and supportive boss vanishes, replaced by a man with a dark and possessive obsession. He confesses a twisted affection, declaring his intention to love her so completely that she will not be able to think about anything else. Tsumugi soon finds herself drowning, trapped in the suffocating and crazy sweet addiction of a love that is as intoxicating as it is dangerous, coming from the very man who once saved her.
The setting is primarily a contemporary Japanese office environment, which quickly transforms from a place of professional tedium into a claustrophobic stage for psychological drama. The core conflict centers on Tsumugi’s shifting perception of Masuda as his facade crumbles, moving from gratitude to fear and confused desire. The central narrative arc begins with Tsumugi’s victimization and rescue, pivots at the moment of her accident which triggers Masuda’s transformation, and then descends into a struggle for power and sanity as she becomes the object of her boss’s all-consuming and pathological obsession.
