Description
Years of torment by her evil stepmother have made Jeanette the laughingstock of high society. Unlike most noble girls, she was raised by her father to understand bookkeeping and trade rather than etiquette, a background that has left her an outcast. When her father suddenly disappears, the opportunistic stepmother casts Jeanette out of the house. The eternal optimist, Jeanette views this disaster as a chance for growth and decides to start a new life by breaking off her engagement to Count Claus Guivarch, a union rumored to be a forced settlement of his family's debts. To her shock, Claus refuses the annulment. Instead of accepting their separation, he confesses his genuine affection for her and offers to help reclaim her father's corporation.
Jeanette quickly seizes the opportunity, and her sharp business acumen begins to shine as she works to build a new enterprise with Claus by her side. However, her stepmother is not finished. When Jeanette’s Orlonde silk becomes the latest rage in high society, the jealous matriarch interferes, determined to see her stepdaughter lose everything. This conflict escalates when the stepmother, in a last-ditch effort for revenge, decides to auction off the title deed to Jeanette’s father’s company, forcing Jeanette to hatch a new plan to save her legacy with the help of Claus and their allies.
As Jeanette and Claus work together, their relationship deepens. While planning their wedding, they receive a summons to the royal palace because their business plays caught the eye of the royal family. However, the person who greets them is not the king but the beautiful yet spoiled Princess Meltia. Famed for her fragile constitution, the princess crudely demands that Claus marry her. When he refuses, she uses her royal influence to place him under house arrest at the palace. Jeanette must now use her intelligence and positive attitude to save the captive princess, referring to Claus, and stand up to the royal family while also fending off the attention of a foreign prince who has set his sights on her.
