Mizunoke are monsters and spirits that appear at the water's edge. While many have been driven out with the advent of modern civilization, they can still be found within the town of Uroko. One day, a young girl named Kichi appears like a storm before Sayo, an employee of the Mizunoke Extermination Center. Though Kichi claims to be searching for her missing brother, there seems to be something more at work. The story follows their encounters as Sayo, whose job involves dealing with these supernatural water dwellers, finds herself drawn into Kichi's mysterious quest. Set in the contemporary town of Uroko where ancient spirits persist despite modernization, the narrative explores the tension between the old world of yokai and the new world of human development. As Kichi searches for her brother, the circumstances surrounding his disappearance hint at deeper connections to the Mizunoke and perhaps to Sayo herself.
