Description
In a world where a popular RPG has become reality, the arrogant young noble Rofus is burdened with the memories of his fate from within the game: to be brutally slain as a lowly minor villain. Furious at the indignity of such a disgraceful end, the twelve-year-old heir to House Lightless vows to avoid his preordained death at all costs.

Determined to rewrite his future, Rofus begins taking preemptive action. He punishes the corrupt officials whose actions would normally incite a rebellion and starts subjugating the monsters ravaging his domain. Through these efforts, he awakens a hidden power that never manifested in the game’s original storyline. Despite his abrasive and unyielding attitude, his actions inadvertently earn the admiration of the common people, and even the heroine who was meant to despise him becomes deeply infatuated with him. His story follows his struggle against destiny as his attempts to secure a solitary survival draw more allies and attention than he ever wanted.

Rofus is the protagonist, an arrogant noble with immense magical potential who refuses to accept his role as an easily killed antagonist. He is driven purely by self-preservation and frequently declares his selfish motives, yet his deeds consistently benefit those around him. Raymond is the heir to a duke and a fellow student at the magic academy, burdened by a dark past involving the neighboring empire and a deep-seated despair over human nature. He becomes a close ally of Rofus and asks him to investigate sensitive matters he cannot handle personally. Asteria is Raymond’s fiancée, a pure-hearted member of royalty whose innocent smile saved Raymond from his despair over humanity. Other characters include Anne and August, fellow students who often misunderstand the nature of Rofus and Raymond’s relationship, leading to comedic moments.

The story is set in a fantasy world where a popular RPG has become a concrete reality, complete with its magic systems, monsters, and political structures. The setting includes the Lightless domain, the magic academy, and neighboring nations such as the empire, which possesses advanced technology and a deep-seated hatred for magic users.

The narrative begins with Rofus experiencing prophetic nightmares of his death, spurring him to action. He travels to a remote fishing village to avert a disaster, only to find the timeline has changed and the threat is already emerging. As he defeats monsters and punishes corrupt officials, he unlocks his true magical abilities and begins attracting followers despite his protests. Later arcs involve deeper political intrigue, as Rofus is reluctantly drawn into investigating the relationship between Asteria and a man named Abel, a task requested by Raymond that forces him to confront conspiracies far larger than his own survival. The story also explores Raymond’s traumatic childhood in the empire, where he witnessed a friend with magical abilities murdered by ordinary citizens, shaping his cynical worldview and his bond with Asteria. Subsequent volumes continue to follow Rofus as he navigates his role as a villain who refuses to die, with his power and influence growing while his abrasive personality remains unchanged.
