Description
Two high school boys and best friends, Keito Azumi and Taiga, are killed in a truck accident. When they awaken, they find themselves reincarnated into a fantasy world, but with a twist: Keito now inhabits the body of a beautiful young woman, the destined heroine, while Taiga has become the world’s overpowered hero. Their only clue for returning to their original world is to fulfill their new roles and defeat the Demon King.
Keito, despite the shock of his gender change, adapts with surprising positivity, appreciating his new form and immediately trying to play the part of a supportive heroine. However, his resolve is constantly tested as Taiga, his former male friend, treats him entirely as a woman, causing Keito’s heart to flutter and his feelings to become complicated. Taiga is calm, powerful, and recognizes Keito immediately, possessing immense combat abilities that make him virtually invincible in battle. He seems to have his own growing attraction to the reincarnated Keito. Their adventure is a mix of standard fantasy quests and comedic situations born from Keito’s awkward navigation of his new body and their evolving relationship.
As the story progresses, the pair confronts the Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon King’s army. A pivotal moment occurs when they battle one of these generals, Green, who reveals a critical truth about their new world: everyone is bound by predetermined roles. This revelation shakes Keito to his core, forcing him to question whether his increasingly romantic feelings for Taiga are genuine or if they are merely the result of the world’s fate forcing the “heroine” and “hero” to become lovers as the old stories dictate. This internal conflict drives him to push for a quick defeat of the Demon King, hoping to escape the world’s script before he loses his original self entirely. Along the way, they discover Keito’s backstory as a princess of a fallen kingdom, adding further layers to his identity and the prophecy they are caught in.
