Description
Nineteen year old Kazuma is unemployed and seemingly without direction when he receives a summons to Asagiri Island, a place rumored to hold a long lost pirate treasure. Drawn by the promise of fortune, he arrives only to find himself working as an odd job man at the Umine Inn, a traditional Japanese café that also houses women only lodgings. Instead of a straightforward hunt for gold, Kazuma is thrown into a chaotic and romantic comedy of island life surrounded by the inns eccentric and beautiful female residents.
The protagonist Kazuma is a young man whose initial laziness and bad luck lead him to this peculiar situation, forcing him to take on chores and maintenance for the inn. The inn itself serves as the central setting, a rustic establishment that blends a public café with private accommodations for a cast of quirky women. The narrative is propelled by two interlocking threads: the daily romantic entanglements and comedic misunderstandings with the residents, and the ongoing search for the legendary pirate treasure said to be hidden somewhere on the island.
Created by Kouji Seo, known for The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses, the story embraces a familiar but engaging formula of a single male protagonist thrust into an all female household with a distinct twist of adventure. Early chapters establish the key personalities of the Umine Inn and end with the explicit beginning of the quest in a notable arc titled Let the Treasure Hunt Begin, shifting the focus from mere survival to active exploration. The series debuted in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine, inviting readers into a world where the beautiful surroundings are rivaled only by the beautiful, and often eccentric, company.
