Description
Ever since the day they met on the archery range, Natsune has found herself unable to escape the playful aim of her junior, Chigaya. No matter how many times she tries to brush him off, his words, smiles, and relentless teasing are always directed solely at her. He is unnervingly observant, always knowing the exact moment to catch her off guard, leaving the usually composed senior flustered and defenseless. Every grin and mischievous jab feels like another arrow released with precision, and the more she tries to dodge, the closer his aim seems to get. As her heart races faster with every encounter, she begins to wonder if there could be something more behind his teasing than just a joke.
The story is set in a contemporary Japanese high school, where both Natsune and Chigaya are members of the archery club. This shared setting is central to the narrative, as the dynamic of senior and junior within the club adds a layer of formal distance that Chigaya constantly and deliberately blurs. Their relationship is built on this push and pull; Natsune tries to maintain the proper, composed demeanor expected of an upperclassman, but Chigaya’s cheeky personality is specifically designed to break that composure.
The narrative primarily follows two notable arcs in its early volumes. The first establishes the core premise: Chigaya’s relentless pursuit and Natsune’s growing realization that her feelings are changing. The tension revolves around whether his teasing is merely a game or a genuine expression of affection. The second arc, detailed in the second volume, raises the stakes when Chigaya suddenly falls ill. Natsune finds herself tending to him, a situation that blurs the distance she has worked so hard to maintain. With him close enough for her to hear every softened breath and feel every brush of warmth, her heart refuses to behave. When he steps behind her again, bold and smiling and determined to win her over, she can no longer pretend she feels nothing. This arc forces her to confront whether she can keep the proper distance between senior and junior, or if she has already let him slip past her guard.
