Description
The manga Saint Love Survivors, created by Satoru Hiura, serves as a sequel to her earlier work Hotaru no Hikari. The story centers on Haru Aizawa, a woman in her thirties who, after seeing a magazine article about a popular band, becomes a devoted fan of its bassist, Kazuhiro Ouji. Driven by the singular desire to meet him, she quits her stable corporate job to become a freelance writer, a move that eventually allows her to cross paths with her idol. After a certain incident, Ouji proposes, and Haru’s long-held dream seems to come true.

However, on their wedding day, Ouji declares that he is not interested in a physical relationship, effectively sealing their marriage as a sexless one from the start. This revelation throws Haru into deep confusion and frustration, as she finds herself trapped in a newlywed life with zero intimacy, a situation she never anticipated. The story is set in contemporary Tokyo, following Haru as she navigates this complicated reality. Her troubles drive her to confide in her two close friends: Fuyumi Matsuoka, a married hair-and-makeup artist and mother, and Akina Kiriyama, a career-driven woman working at a foreign company. To her surprise, Haru discovers that both friends are carrying their own deep and painful secrets regarding love and sexuality, with Fuyumi trapped in a marriage with a mentally abusive husband and Akina leading a sex-positive lifestyle.

The narrative arc follows Haru’s journey from devoted fan and hopeful bride to a woman forced to confront her own needs. After her husband’s shocking announcement, she realizes she must look elsewhere to satisfy her desires and begins to explore her opportunities. This exploration leads her to a deliveryman named Natsuo Urushibara, who formerly worked at a women-only service, setting the stage for a complex emotional and physical entanglement. Over the course of its run, the manga chronicles Haru’s struggles and the difficult choices she faces as she seeks fulfillment and love on her own terms, ultimately concluding its story in four volumes published between October 2020 and May 2023.
