The one who performs this grim task is a young woman named Nemu, who navigates treacherous dungeons, beast lairs, and ocean floors to recover the fallen, answering the desperate pleas of the bereaved who simply want their loved ones brought home. For Nemu, it is a dangerous way to earn a paycheck, and she works alone.

The story shifts when, during a routine recovery mission, Nemu encounters an injured explorer named Garensis. Unlike most who scorn her profession, Garensis is immediately fascinated by her. He is on a personal quest to find his missing sister and becomes convinced that staying by Nemu's side is the key to his success. Despite her indifferent and solitary nature, Nemu finds her quiet routine interrupted by this persistent tag-along.
