Description
No manga by this title exists based on available information. The story originates as a Japanese light novel series written by Rintaro Hatake, published in English by Yen Press under its Yen On imprint. The following synopsis describes that light novel series.
In a world where supernatural warriors known as Informationists sell their reality-manipulating abilities for use in armed conflicts, an ordinary Informationist named Tsushima Rindou accepts what appears to be a routine escort mission. His job is to smuggle a fallen noble named Holy, also referred to as Holly, out of the Balga Empire. What Rindou does not anticipate is that his client harbors a secret far more significant than he was told, and the Empire has no intention of letting her leave.
As the pair attempts their escape, they find themselves pursued not only by the Imperial regular army but also by the Empire’s most powerful Informationists, an elite group known as the Six Emperor Swords or Six Imperial Swords. These adversaries possess overwhelming power, and the conspiracy surrounding Holy deepens as layers of political intrigue and past grudges resurface. Rindou possesses the ability to materialize anything he can construct in his mind scientifically, making him a formidable though initially underestimated combatant.
The two protagonists are bound initially by nothing more than a transactional business agreement. Rindou is a cold, violent, and edgy bodyguard who smokes due to a curse in a futuristic world where smoking has otherwise become obsolete. Holy is a timid and innocent-seeming young woman who serves as a foil to her protector. Despite their contractual relationship, the grueling journey forces them to bond as they face near-constant danger with almost no time to rest.
The story is set within the Balga Empire, a militaristic nation from which Holy is defecting to a free state. The opening narrative arc establishes the escape from the Empire, introducing readers to the relentless pursuit that begins immediately. The first volume features the appearance of elite assassins who would typically serve as final bosses in other stories, indicating the high intensity of the conflict from the very start. The conspiracy involves Holy’s hidden identity, which drives the Empire to deploy overwhelming force to recapture her.
A subsequent narrative arc, detailed in the second volume, finds Rindou and the renamed noble, now called Lupus, having reached the Free City of Elbar and attained a measure of peace. However, their stability is shattered when the Empire’s top assassin attacks Rindou seeking revenge for past transgressions. Facing overwhelming power, Rindou resolves to sacrifice his own life to protect Lupus, but she refuses to accept his reckless plan, asserting that her freedom and new identity mean nothing if her knight must die for her to keep them. The series explores political disputes within the world, the concept of heretical knights far removed from traditional chivalry, and the evolving relationship between two souls bound by circumstance who gradually become something more to one another.
