Description
After three hundred years of deathlike slumber, Kai Lekius awakens as a True Blood, an immortal vampire of immense power. Known in his past life as the Sanguinary King, he had once brought stability and peace to his fragmented land through cruel and calculated reign before entering his long sleep to await the advancement of magic. He placed his trust in his brother to steward the world in his absence, expecting that by the time he rose again, magical arts would have evolved far beyond what he once knew.
The reality he finds upon awakening is a profound disappointment. Magic has not progressed at all. In place of innovation and growth, a rigid nobility system now tyrannizes the weak across the land, a system Kai has no recollection of ever establishing. Rather than finding the advanced magical civilization he dreamed of studying, he discovers a world whose society has stagnated into familiar patterns of oppression and suffering. Reluctantly setting aside his scholarly ambitions, the ancient vampire king realizes he must once again take up the burden of leadership, dismantle the corrupt hierarchy bearing his name, and save his people from the very system that has grown in his shadow.
The story follows Kai Lekius as he navigates this unfamiliar era, wielding his overwhelming power not for conquest but for correction. The central narrative arc involves his reawakening and initial assessment of the modern magical landscape, followed by his growing conflict with the nobility that rules in his supposed name. His journey balances frustration at magic's stagnation against the pressing need to liberate those crushed under a system he never wanted, all while he searches for any remnant of the magical progress he once hoped to find.
