Description
When Princess Lailah’s kingdom falls to a rebel army, she accepts one final duty: to act as a body double for her twin sister and face execution at the hands of the rebel leader. That leader is Prince Khalifa, a man she once loved as her first love, who now seeks vengeance against the royal family that imprisoned and tormented him. Lailah successfully deceives Khalifa by impersonating her sister, but instead of killing her, he has other plans.
Believing Lailah to be the princess who abused him during his captivity, Khalifa places a curse upon her that forces her to submit to his every command. He intends to use her as an instrument of revenge, a doll living only to serve his desires. The situation is complicated by the fact that Khalifa once harbored genuine feelings for Lailah herself, unaware that the woman now in his power is the one he loved, not the one who wronged him. The curse he employs carries a hidden danger, threatening to eventually kill the very person it is placed upon.
The story unfolds in a fallen fantasy kingdom where the palace has become a prison of another kind. Lailah must endure Khalifa’s grudge and the physical and psychological demands of the curse while trying to protect her real sister, who remains in hiding. The narrative is driven by the tense dynamic between a heroine sacrificing herself for family and a vengeful prince whose cruelty masks conflicted emotions. Adding to the turmoil is the true princess, Malaika, who emerges as a genuinely malevolent antagonist whose past abuse of Khalifa set the entire cycle of revenge in motion. As the curse takes its toll, the central question becomes whether Lailah can survive the hatred of a man she once loved and whether the truth about her identity might break the chains binding them both.
