Description
An obscure blacksmith named Lutz is toiling away at his forge when, by chance, he creates the finest katana of his life, a weapon that could be considered his magnum opus. This exceptional blade, however, is lost to him when a certain incident forces him to surrender it. To compound his misfortune, Lutz had forgotten to stamp his maker's mark onto the katana, leaving him with no way to prove it was his own work. The sword soon finds its way into the hands of Gerhardt, the personal spellforger to a local lord. The moment Gerhardt lays eyes on the blade, he is completely enchanted by its beauty and craftsmanship. From this starting point, the story unfolds as a sword-making fantasy where the lives and destinies of many people are moved and shaped by an unknown blacksmith and his nameless katana. The narrative follows Lutz as he navigates a world where his greatest creation has been taken from him, while also tracing the journey of the katana itself as it passes through different hands and alters the fates of those who possess it. The setting is a fantasy world where magic exists alongside traditional sword-forging, with characters including spellforgers who craft enchanted weapons. The ongoing story includes arcs centered on Lutz's attempt to come to terms with the loss of his masterpiece, Gerhardt's growing obsession with the blade he now holds, and the broader impact the katana has on the political and social dynamics of the realm as its true origins remain a secret.
