Description
Shy and self-conscious since childhood, Sakuraba Mio enters high school determined to transform herself. Her plans for a quiet reinvention are derailed when she catches the attention of the student council president, Oushiro Haru, a charismatic figure known as the King. Without giving her a chance to refuse, he forcefully recruits her into the student council.
The council is populated by four distinctive and popular boys, each known as a King in his own right. Alongside the forceful and dramatic President Oushiro are the Vice President, the athletic yet dry Tachibana, and another member named Airu. Initially overwhelmed, Mio finds her awkward and earnest nature gradually endears her to them. Rather than a typical rivalry with a bully, the story focuses on Mio’s internal struggle to overcome her introversion with the boys’ unwavering support.
As Mio adjusts to her new life, she begins to forge friendships, particularly with two girls from her class, marking a major step out of her lonely shell. In a notable early arc, she helps Tachibana, who is cold due to past rejections from girls who found him boring, by connecting with him over his calligraphy. Later, during the school sports festival, it is revealed that President Oushiro secretly added extra events specifically so that Mio, who admits to having no athletic talent, could participate fully. This gesture leads Mio to realize her feelings for him are becoming more than just admiration, even as the other council members find themselves increasingly drawn to her natural charm.
