Description
Juu has spent over thirty years as a killer, raised from childhood within an assassin organization after being abandoned by his parents. His entire existence has been defined by life-threatening missions where failure means death. The organization finally offers him a chance to leave the business entirely, but only on one condition: he must complete one final, most difficult assignment. He is ordered to assassinate a hero.
Juu succeeds in killing the hero, a feat that represents the peak of his deadly career. In return, the organization releases him, honoring their agreement. However, freedom comes at a cost he did not anticipate. He is cast out with nothing but tattered clothes, unkempt hair, and a paltry sum of money no greater than a child’s allowance. Having been trained solely for assassination since childhood, he possesses no social experience, no practical life skills, and no means of integrating into normal society. He is a man approaching forty years old with no home, no job, and no identity outside of killing.
The central conflict of the story follows Juu as he attempts to build a meaningful second life from absolute rock bottom. Having survived a gruesome and hellish existence, he decides to start anew despite lacking everything necessary for a normal existence. The narrative explores his struggle to apply the hyper-specialized skills of a former assassin to everyday challenges while grappling with the psychological weight of his past. His successful assassination of the hero serves as both his liberation and his burden, as the consequences of that act likely ripple through the world he now tries to inhabit as a civilian. The story follows this middle-aged former killer navigating mundane difficulties alongside the lingering threats and complications arising from his previous line of work, all while striving to make his harsh past somehow meaningful.
