Description
A political marriage between warring kingdoms turns into an unexpected and passionate romance when a princess is claimed not through diplomacy but through abduction.

In a world inspired by ancient China, the Eastern Hua kingdom seeks to end its violent conflict with the northern land of Bei Yan. Gyokuyo, the strong-willed and compassionate younger sister of the Eastern Hua Emperor, is prepared to accept a political marriage for the sake of peace. During negotiations, however, she is suddenly kidnapped by Sōei, the crown prince of Bei Yan, who is instantly captivated by her. Although Gyokuyo initially resists being taken, she soon learns that Sōei is the very man she was meant to wed, and their forced union quickly commences.

The narrative follows Gyokuyo as she is thrust into the unfamiliar and often intimidating culture of Bei Yan. She struggles to navigate the brutal customs of the northern court, including the expectation that a royal couple’s intimate life be witnessed by attendants. Sōei, known as the Dragon King for his fierce and commanding presence, is possessive and domineering, yet his actions are driven by a deep and growing obsession for his new bride. While he frequently demands physical submission, he also shows genuine concern for her safety and well-being, creating a complex relationship dynamic defined by power, passion, and reluctant affection.

Gyokuyo is the central protagonist, a princess of noble character who is not merely a passive victim. She demonstrates intelligence and a strong sense of duty, even as she is caught between her loyalty to her homeland and her developing feelings for her captor. Sōei is the male lead, a handsome and powerful heir whose exterior arrogance hides a desperate need for Gyokuyo’s love. Several notable arcs challenge their tenuous bond, including the schemes of Sōei’s younger half-brother, Ran'ei, who seeks to destabilize the marriage for his own political gain, and the interference of a female general whose closeness to Sōei causes Gyokuyo deep jealousy. The story also explores Gyokuyo’s own family, revealing that her brother, the Emperor, had secret motives in arranging the match that threatened to sacrifice her.

As Gyokuyo endures assassination attempts and political traps, her forced relationship with Sōei gradually transforms into a powerful mutual devotion. The series concludes as the couple overcomes external threats to their rule and solidifies their bond, moving from a violent abduction to a consensual and celebrated partnership that secures lasting peace between their two nations.
