Description
In the lush, tree-covered city of Kazamatsuri, where afforestation has made the urban landscape blend with nature, the Occult Research Club, nicknamed Oka-ken, serves as the focal point of school life and supernatural curiosity. The manga follows the club and its members through their daily adventures, blending comedy with light paranormal investigation. The club is centered around Kotarou Tennouji, a high school boy who possesses a mysterious ability to rewrite his own body, granting him enhanced physical prowess. He is joined by a lively group of girls: Kotori Kanbe, his childhood friend; Shizuru Nakatsu, a calm and collected upperclassman; Lucia Konohana, a girl with a sharp tongue and a hidden past; Akane Senri, an eccentric and energetic senior; Chihaya Ootori, a cheerful yet enigmatic transfer student; and Kagari, a mysterious girl who appears in key moments. Supporting them are Sakuya Ootori and Touka Nishikujou, who add further depth to the club's interactions.
The narrative is largely episodic, focusing on the club’s comedic exploits, school festivals, investigations of odd rumors, and the everyday bonds between its members. While the larger Rewrite universe involves a secret conflict between the environmental organization Gaia and the monster-hunting Guardian group, this manga keeps those elements in the background, preferring lighthearted slice-of-life moments and character-driven humor. The two volumes and twelve chapters offer a warm, accessible entry point into the world of Rewrite, emphasizing friendship, curiosity, and the charm of a school club that never quite finds a real ghost but always enjoys the search.
