High school student Hajime Kugayama lives in a remote countryside town with a population of only five thousand. He has long harbored a quiet crush on his elementary school classmate Akira Momose, who moved away during the fourth grade. When she suddenly returns to the same rural area for high school, Hajime expects to keep his distance, but Akira has other plans. She has come back with a carefully crafted strategy to win his heart, complete with detailed scripts and planned encounters. However, Akira is hopelessly clumsy, and her elaborate schemes consistently backfire. To make matters worse, Hajime is extremely dense and tends to act on impulse, leading to constant misunderstandings and comedic mishaps. The story follows the pair as they navigate school life, participate in sports festivals, bake sweets, visit the beach, and attend local events, all while Akira's efforts to get closer to Hajime result in chaotic yet endearing situations. Supporting characters include Hajime's friend Rendaiji, who cannot look girls in the eye; Akira's friends Tsumugi Kintetsu and Mei Oni; and the charismatic track club president Mone Kajiyashiki. Through a series of daily misadventures and heartwarming moments, the manga depicts the sweet, awkward, and transparently pure romance between two people who are clearly meant for each other but cannot seem to get their timing right.
