Lala Rose is the daughter of an extremely poor baron and possesses a skill called Hungry, which is widely dismissed as useless. After slapping a sexually harassing marquis who employed her, she is thrown out of her workplace and left to fend for herself. Undiscouraged, she heads toward the royal capital in search of a new job. Along the way, she discovers a beautiful kitchen knife stuck in the ground. Thinking she will borrow it briefly to crack open walnuts for her next meal, she pulls it out. To her shock, the knife begins to glow and speak, revealing itself to be a holy sword.
