Manga
Description
A university freshman named Kanako, an ordinary young woman, is drawn by a friend into the world of JK Refre, a massage service for men that gained notoriety after an option for a one-thousand-yen slap sparked a social debate. Kanako begins working there, stepping into a gray zone between legitimate part-time work and the semi-legal service industry.

The manga shifts to a second arc centered on Ririko, a visual representative for the idol group Homesick. She appears to be thriving both professionally and personally until the group disbands just before her birthday event. Through her producer, Ririko finds work at a concept cafe in Akihabara, an industry that expanded rapidly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Behind the cute uniforms lies a morally ambiguous environment where the line between fantasy and exploitation blurs.

The third arc follows Naoko, who moves to Tokyo after a transfer at her massage job. Expecting an exciting urban life, she instead struggles to attract customers at the new location. Desperate for higher income, Naoko responds to a direct message from a man offering a lucrative side job, which leads her into the world of men's esthetic services, a sector where aggressive treatments have drawn repeated police raids despite growing demand.

Each arc presents a different protagonist and a distinct underground occupation, but all share a core theme: ordinary young women navigating the ethical and personal compromises of unregulated side jobs. The setting moves from the JK Refre shops, to Akihabara concept cafes, to the back-alley esthetic salons, portraying the social and economic pressures that push individuals into these spaces. The narrative is structured as a fictional account based on research, depicting the characters' gradual descent into increasingly questionable work environments.
