A university freshman named Kanako, an ordinary young woman, is drawn by a friend into the world of JK Refre, a massage service for men that gained notoriety after an option for a one-thousand-yen slap sparked a social debate. Kanako begins working there, stepping into a gray zone between legitimate part-time work and the semi-legal service industry.

The manga shifts to a second arc centered on Ririko, a visual representative for the idol group Homesick. The setting moves from the JK Refre shops, to Akihabara concept cafes, to the back-alley esthetic salons, portraying the social and economic pressures that push individuals into these spaces.
