High school student Seiji has suffered from relentless bad luck ever since he accidentally wandered into the underworld as a child. The source of his misfortune is the pomegranate he brought back from that journey, a fruit belonging to the lord of the dead. Despite a constant stream of near-fatal accidents, his childhood friend Haru has remained by his side. When a bus crash kills everyone aboard except Seiji, Haru is among the casualties. Desperate to bring him back, Seiji eats the forbidden pomegranate, an act that triggers a chaotic chain of events. He descends into the underworld through the same well, only to find himself entangled in a coup surrounding the resurrection of Hades, the king of the dead. Empowered by the pomegranate, Seiji gains strange abilities and fights against the three-headed enforcer Cerberus. Hades awakens and targets Seiji, seeking to reclaim the fruit's power. After a narrow escape, Seiji and his allies devise a countermeasure: reviving another ancient death god, Osiris, to oppose Hades. The story blends Greek and Japanese underworld mythology, following Seiji as he navigates a realm where the dead are judged, gods scheme for power, and his own soul hangs in the balance. His quest to save Haru becomes a battle to prevent both worlds from plunging into chaos.
