Description
Wilfred, the young king of the Windsor Kingdom, has earned the feared title of Martial Tyrant after ruthlessly purging even his own brother to root out corruption and force through sweeping reforms. Isolated by his own severity, he rules alone, surrounded by courtiers who tremble in his presence. Into this tense political landscape arrives Princess Alicia of the neighboring kingdom of Barois, sent as a political bride to seal an alliance. Alicia, however, was raised among commoners due to her status as a hidden child, and she carries none of the aristocratic reserve expected of a royal bride. With an irrepressibly bright disposition and a knack for disregarding formality, she immediately begins to close the distance that everyone else maintains around the king. She spots traces of kindness no one else dares to see, and she does not hesitate to laugh, worry, and even argue on his behalf. Her behavior confounds and unsettles Wilfred at first, but her genuine warmth gradually thaws his guarded heart. The story charts their uneven and often humorous journey from a cold political union to a genuinely affectionate partnership, as Alicia’s sunny nature draws out the man behind the tyrant’s mask and Wilfred learns to trust and care for someone in return. Set in a fantasy kingdom with a rigid court hierarchy, the narrative focuses on the slow, intimate transformation of two very different individuals into a couple. Notable supporting figures include Cedric, Wilfred’s capable and loyal right hand, and Richard, Wilfred’s younger half-brother, whose angelic beauty and popularity at court provide additional layers of courtly dynamics. The manga adapts a light novel series by Takayama Seiichi, illustrated by Bekkou Riko with character designs by Falmaro, and its two collected volumes follow the pair from their uneasy first meeting through the growth of mutual understanding and love.
