In a near future, the Love Education Law is enacted as a measure against the declining birthrate, making romance a compulsory subject in high schools. Hatano Mangetsu, a boy who carries trauma from past experiences with girls and is naturally timid, finds himself on the verge of failing this mandatory love course. To avoid having to repeat the grade, he enrolls in supplementary love lessons alongside his childhood friend Kawaigawa Akane, who is also a struggling student. Mangetsu secretly harbors feelings for the popular and ideal girl Nanase Ai, but his shyness prevents him from approaching her.
