Description
Mebuki has lived a simple, almost detached life, akin to a cat lounging on a porch. But entering high school changes everything: she suddenly becomes aware of her childhood friend Raku, and what she feels is love. Her world, once muted, begins to bloom with color and emotion. Yet that new brightness is quickly shadowed when she sees an expression on Raku’s face she has never seen before—a look of deep affection that is not meant for her. Raku’s secret crush is Yuki, the young substitute teacher who was their middle school’s assistant homeroom teacher. Mebuki is caught between the ache of her own feelings and the question of whether she can truly wish for Raku’s happiness if it means letting him go. The story follows her quiet, painful journey of first love, heartbreak, and the slow recognition of what it means to care for someone even when it hurts. Set against the backdrop of ordinary school days and the changing seasons, it is a short but resonant tale of youthful emotion and the bittersweet moment when love first reveals its weight.
