The Special Defense Division of the Japanese police is a unit staffed by individuals possessing unique abilities known as traits. Officer Miguchi carries the trait of a venomous snake, granting him snake-like reflexes and a poison-related power. His new partner, Negawa, possesses a trait that allows him to see the dangers that will befall anyone he looks at within the next three hours. Together, this mismatched duo is assigned to handle bizarre and threatening cases, ranging from a poison-spreading criminal and a serial killer targeting women to absurdly mundane hazards like falling bird droppings, all while navigating their own budding partnership.

The series balances lighthearted police comedy with deeper dramatic arcs. As Miguchi and Negawa work together, the story gradually uncovers the tragic pasts that shaped them. Miguchi’s former partner, Nekoshima, was murdered by a dangerous rogue named Hekizaka. Hekizaka’s true identity is later revealed to be Negawa’s older brother, Risu Tooru, the same man who killed Negawa’s parents. This revelation drives a wedge between the two partners, forcing Miguchi to confront his desire for revenge and Negawa to grapple with his family’s legacy.
