Description
Heartbroken after being dumped by her boyfriend in the cruelest way, high school girl Kawashima Kokoha is wallowing in misery when she stumbles onto a surprising secret. The quiet, glasses-wearing boy in her class, Mizuma, who had always seemed plain and unremarkable, is actually incredibly handsome without his glasses. Seizing the opportunity to get back at her ex, Kokoha half-forcefully convinces the gentle Mizuma to pretend to be her boyfriend. She takes him to her hometown and parades him in front of her ex, hoping to make him regret his decision. But the plan backfires in an unexpected way: Mizuma’s natural, unconscious boyfriend-like gestures – kind smiles, gentle words, and considerate actions – start making Kokoha’s heart race for real.
Set in a modern high school, the story follows the fake-dating arrangement as it slowly blurs into genuine feelings. Kokoha, inexperienced with romance beyond her failed relationship, finds herself increasingly flustered by Mizuma’s unassuming charm. Mizuma himself is a socially withdrawn bookworm who lacks confidence, but he reveals a warm, attentive side once he lowers his guard. As they navigate classroom dynamics, mutual friends, and the lingering presence of Kokoha’s ex, their pretend relationship becomes a chance for both to heal and grow closer. Over the course of several volumes, the manga traces their awkward yet tender steps from a convenient lie toward authentic connection, exploring themes of self-worth, hidden beauty, and the courage to start over.
