The romance drama scriptwriter Oyama Ushio is in a creative slump. Her recent work is considered past its prime, and she decides to make a comeback by writing a yakuza-themed drama. While researching the underworld, she is rescued from a molester by a yakuza named Samehada Yukiji, a large, rough-looking man with a physical, intimidating presence. Ushio asks him to cooperate with her research, and is surprised to discover that Samehada is a huge fan of her romance dramas. Despite his thick, stoic yakuza exterior, he is pure-hearted and adores her work, creating a stark contrast between his appearance and his personality.
