In a temple that follows the teachings of the Cross-dressing School, a sect that believes wearing women's clothing is the most manly act a man can perform, novice monk Chiharu struggles daily with his required attire. He cannot get used to the dresses, ribbons, and frills he is forced to wear, and he is constantly scolded by those around him for his reluctance. His life takes a turn when a young girl named Komari visits the temple. Chiharu falls in love with her at first sight, and his feelings become even more complicated when Komari calls his cross-dressed appearance cute.

Chiharu lives at the temple alongside several other novice monks, each with their own relationship to the sect's unusual practices. His roommate Yukihiko is cool, beautiful, and protective of Chiharu, having regained his smile after Chiharu arrived at the temple. Other boys include the athletic Umetaro and the sharp-tongued Kai. They all wear the sect's clerical women's clothing and participate in training and chores while navigating their unusual circumstances.

As Chiharu grows closer to Komari, the innocent and cheerful granddaughter of the temple's head monk, he begins to see her feelings shift from simple fondness toward romantic interest. The story deepens with the introduction of Ren, a tall, handsome girl from the Men's Clothing School, a rival sect that advocates for women wearing men's clothing. Ren becomes drawn to Chiharu, and after she kisses him on the cheek, Chiharu finds himself unable to stop thinking about her as well. Caught between Komari and Ren, Chiharu faces a difficult choice. In the end, he makes an unexpected decision that allows him to embrace his role at the temple, pursue his relationships, and find his own path forward. The story concludes with Chiharu resolving to become the head monk of the Cross-dressing Temple, supported by both Komari and Ren.
