Description
Hikari Hamura, a high school student with a passion for drawing, is known by his classmates as "Picasso" due to his exceptional artistic talent. His solitary nature and obsession with sketching alienate him from his peers, except for his childhood friend Chiaki Yamamoto, who genuinely cares for him. One day, while on a school trip, Hikari and Chiaki are caught in a freak accident when a helicopter crashes near them. Chiaki sacrifices herself to save Hikari, resulting in her death. Hikari survives but loses his right arm, the one he used to draw.
Shortly after the accident, Hikari begins experiencing strange visions. Chiaki’s spirit appears to him, explaining that he has been granted a second chance at life under one condition: he must use his artistic abilities to help others. Chiaki reveals that Hikari’s drawings can now manifest the inner psychological struggles of people around him. By entering these surreal, symbolic landscapes through his sketches, Hikari can confront the emotional and mental issues plaguing his classmates and guide them toward resolution.
As Hikari reluctantly takes on this responsibility, he encounters a variety of individuals, each grappling with their own hidden pain. These include a girl struggling with self-esteem due to her appearance, a boy consumed by jealousy and resentment, and a teacher burdened by guilt over past mistakes. Through his interactions, Hikari not only aids others but also begins to confront his own feelings of guilt, grief, and isolation stemming from Chiaki’s death. His journey becomes a process of self-discovery and healing, as he learns to connect with others and understand the complexities of human emotions.
The narrative explores themes of mental health, personal growth, and the power of art as a medium for understanding and communication. Hikari’s evolving relationships with his classmates and his deepening bond with Chiaki’s spirit drive the story forward, blending psychological introspection with supernatural elements. The series balances its darker, emotional undertones with moments of hope and redemption, creating a poignant exploration of the human condition.
