Franco Latini

Description
Franco Latini was an Italian actor and voice actor, widely regarded as one of the most prolific and influential voice dubbers for animated productions in Italy. Born in Pomezia on September 12, 1927, he began his career in the early 1950s as a nightclub singer before transitioning to radio comedies, theatre, and film. Following a 1981 accident that resulted in the loss of a leg, he dedicated himself exclusively to dubbing.

Latini's voice became iconic for generations of Italian viewers through his extensive dubbing work in numerous animated series and films. While he is celebrated for providing the Italian voices for beloved characters such as Donald Duck, Tom from Tom & Jerry, and various Looney Tunes characters, his contribution to the world of anime was also substantial. His work in this field includes providing voices for several Italian-dubbed versions of Japanese anime series. Notably, he voiced the titular character Moncicci in the series Monchichi, the Twins. In the series New Jungle Emperor, Go Ahead Leo!, Latini lent his voice to a multitude of characters, including Leo, Lia, Rick (also listed as Rukio), Rune, Tommy, and others. His other prominent anime roles include the characters Volpe in Kashi no Ki Mokku, as well as Gorm, Ulme, and Urobe in Vicke the Little Viking.

Beyond performing, Latini was also active as a dubbing director. In the late 1970s, he founded his own dubbing company, Effe Elle Due, which was responsible for the Italian adaptations of numerous animated series and shows. This work frequently involved him directing and voicing multiple characters in a single production, a common practice in Italian dubbing at the time. His children, Laura, Ilaria, and Fabrizio, all followed him into the voice acting profession. Franco Latini passed away in Rome on February 2, 1991, at the age of 63. His legacy endures through the vast library of characters he brought to life for Italian audiences, including his significant contributions to the world of anime.
