Angelo Maggi is an Italian actor and voice actor born in Rome on December 16, 1955. He began his career on stage, debuting in 1980 under the guidance of Vittorio Gassman at the Bottega Teatrale di Firenze, and has since worked extensively in theatre, cinema, and television. In the realm of dubbing, he is renowned as the official Italian voice of actors such as Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis, and Robert Downey Jr.. His extensive voice work includes a significant number of roles in anime, particularly during the 1980s and 1990s, a period he describes as foundational to his career in dubbing.

Maggi's contributions to anime dubbing span a wide variety of series and films. Among his most prominent roles are those in the "Aim for the Ace!" franchise, where he voices the character Jeremy, known in the original Japanese as Jin Munakata. His credits for this role include the television series "Aim For The Best!", its sequel "Aim For The Best! 2", and the OVAs "Aim For The Best! Final Stage". He also provided the voice for Tetsuya Jin in the series "Kōsoku Denjin Albegas" (Lightspeed Electroid Albegas). In the modern anime film trilogy produced by Toho Animation and Polygon Pictures, Maggi voices the character Umberto Mori in "Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters", "Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle", and "Godzilla: The Planet Eater".

Maggi's filmography includes roles in a diverse range of other animated projects. He is the Italian voice of Kaneda in the seminal film "Akira" and of Tony Stark/Iron Man in the animated feature "Iron Man: Rise of Technovore". He voiced Martin Braddock in the film "Pompo: The Cinéphile". Other notable anime credits include Guile in "Street Fighter II V", Ryo Nagare in various works from the Getter Robo franchise, Yotsuya in the first 52 episodes of "Maison Ikkoku", and Takashi Kasuga in a new dub of "Kimagure Orange Road". He also voiced the Italian aviation pioneer Giovanni Battista Caproni in Hayao Miyazaki's "The Wind Rises".

In a 2021 interview, Maggi reflected on his early years in dubbing, noting that his work on anime was the "backbone" of his experience where he learned the fundamentals of the craft. His work has been recognized with several awards, including the Leggio d'oro for "Voice of the Year" in 2008 and the Premio "Tonino Accolla" for career achievement. Beyond performance, he created and performs in a one-man stage show titled "Il DoppiAttore," which combines his passions for theatre and dubbing to educate audiences about the art form.
