Dirk Bublies is a German voice actor, theater actor, and singer, born on February 29, 1968, in Berlin. He began his career on stage, performing in theaters such as the Hansa-Theater and the Theater am Kurfürstendamm in Berlin, and also worked as a baritone singer and as a cabaret artist. Since 1992, he has been active in the field of dubbing, lending his voice to over 300 roles in films and television series.

In anime and animation, Bublies has provided the German voice for several prominent characters. As noted, he voiced the cyborg warrior Briareos Hecantochires in the 2014 anime film Appleseed Alpha. He also took on the role of Prince Ishitsukuri in the acclaimed Studio Ghibli film The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (released in Germany as Die Legende der Prinzessin Kaguya). More recently, he was selected to be the new German voice of the character Kogoro Mori in the long-running anime series Detektiv Conan and its associated films, starting with the 27th movie, Detektiv Conan – Das 1-Million-Dollar-Pentagramm, in 2024. His other animation voice work includes roles in the series Canaan, DuckTales, and Ninjago.

Beyond the world of animation, Bublies is known for being the regular German voice for several actors. He has established a long-running collaboration voicing Douglas Henshall as Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez in the crime series Mord auf Shetland since 2013. He is also the voice of Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean in Gotham and has voiced Christian McKay in multiple films. His film work includes voicing Alfred Pennyworth in Joker and Jack Torrance in Doctor Sleeps Erwachen.

In addition to his work as a voice actor, Dirk Bublies has been active as a dialogue director and scriptwriter for German dubs since 2008, contributing to projects such as the Netflix series Mindhunter.
