Description
Akio Hirose is a Japanese actor and voice actor from Tokyo, born on January 17, 1962. He is affiliated with the Legend Talent Agency and also serves as the representative of the artist company he founded, Artist Company Hibikibito. His career in the performing arts began in 1981 when he started training as an actor at Act Aoyama. In 1990, he joined the renowned Shiki Theatre Company, where he spent 17 years performing in a wide range of stage productions and musicals. After leaving the theatre company in December 2006, Hirose expanded his focus to include on-camera work and voice acting for film dubbing, initially through the agency F-Spirit.

In the realm of anime, Hirose is known for a range of supporting and character roles. He voiced the antagonist Yael Okuzaki, a formidable sniper, in the 2014 film Lupin the IIIrd: Jigen's Gravestone, a role he later reprised in the 2025 film LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE: The Immortal Bloodline. That same year, he began voicing Cumpa Rusita in the Gundam Reconguista in G television series, a role he continued in the subsequent compilation films released between 2019 and 2022. His other notable anime voice credits include Jinmen in the 2018 original net animation DEVILMAN crybaby, William Dorman in Double Decker! Doug & Kirill, and Escola Guetta in the film Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative. He has also taken on roles in projects such as Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul, Megalo Box, and the Lupin III television special Goodbye Partner.

Beyond anime, a significant portion of Hirose's voice work is dedicated to Japanese dubbing of foreign films and series. His extensive dubbing credits are marked by a range of prominent characters. He has voiced the Shredder in both the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon and the 2014 live-action film, General Zod in Man of Steel, and Bubbles the Dolphin in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. He is also the regular dubbing voice for actor Dolph Lundgren, having voiced King Nereus in Aquaman and its sequel. In 2022, he took on the iconic role of Detective Hercule Poirot for the Japanese dub of Death on the Nile. His work also extends to video games, where he has provided voices for characters such as Gurrado in Dragon Quest VIII, Brador in Bloodborne, and Brian Irons in the 2019 version of Resident Evil 2.
