Fumiya Imai
Description
Fumiya Imai is a Japanese voice actor and singer born on October 5, 1997, in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. He is affiliated with the talent agency Rush Style. His decision to pursue a career in voice acting was inspired by watching the anime series Clannad. To achieve his goal, he enrolled at the Amusement Media Academy in Tokyo, commuting from his hometown, a journey that could take up to eight hours one way. While still a student at the academy, he gained early experience as an assistant personality for the radio show Shūkan Kobayashi Yū. He made his professional debut as a voice actor in 2018.
Imai's first lead role in an anime television series came in 2022, when he was cast as Yuya Niyodo in Phantom of the Idol. For this series, he and his co-star Shun Horie formed a musical unit called Zings. That same year, he also voiced the character Musashi Shinonome in the anime Hanabi-chan Is Often Late.
He is widely recognized for his role as Akito Shinonome, a member of the unit Vivid Bad Squad, in the popular video game Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!. This marked his first role that required significant singing performance. His work on music releases for the game, including the single Rad Dogs / Cinema and the album Vivid Bad Squad Sekai Album Vol.1, saw commercial success, charting at number nine and number two on the Oricon charts, respectively. He is set to reprise this role in the 2025 animated film Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing.
Another significant role is Hiiragi Kashima in the Given multimedia franchise. He first voiced the character in the 2019 anime television series. He later returned to the role for the 2024 animated films Given: Hiiragi Mix and Given: Umi e. His involvement with the franchise extended beyond voice work, as he performed as both a vocalist and bassist in the Given Zepp Tour.
Beyond these key roles, Imai has built a diverse filmography with numerous supporting and guest appearances in anime series such as Ace of Diamond, One-Punch Man, Taisho Otome Fairy Tale, Reborn to Master the Blade, and Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again. In video games, his credits include A3! as Rento Kinozaki and Angelique Luminarise as Taira.
In addition to his voice acting, he has demonstrated his musical talent by covering popular songs, such as YOASOBI's Yoru ni Kakeru. He also hosted his own radio show, Imai Fumiya's NOW is the time, as part of the MAN TWO MONTH RADIO project in 2022. In September 2024, his first photo book, titled concept?, was released. His hobbies include snowboarding, darts, and mahjong, and he has a special skill in playing billiards.
