When social media accounts of the deceased are left with lingering regrets, they can resurface as digital ghosts known as Ghost Accounts. Fifteen-year-old Soji Enishiro, an online flamebait streamer who goes by the name Aoringo, has been creating provocative content to earn money for his younger sister Akari's medical treatment. After she dies from her illness, Soji falls into a state of denial and continues messaging her account, which inadvertently causes her spirit to manifest as a Ghost Account that attacks him. This confrontation awakens Soji's latent cyber-kinesis, the ability to generate spiritual flames from his smartphone. He is then recruited to Miden Academy, a specialized school that trains a new generation of exorcists to combat these digital hauntings.

The story takes place in a contemporary world where supernatural phenomena have evolved alongside technology. Traditional ghosts that haunted physical locations have been joined by digitized spirits that linger on the servers and devices where the deceased once spent their time. Miden Academy serves as the central setting, a mysterious institution where students learn to harness their cyber-kinetic abilities and fight Ghost Accounts using weapons summoned from their phones.

The protagonist, Soji Enishiro, is a kind and devoted older brother who has a history of delinquency but genuinely cares for his sister. After learning that Akari did not die from her illness but was actually murdered by a powerful Ghost Account named Sad Boy K, Soji resolves to become stronger and seek revenge. Kukuru Kasubata is a short-tempered class representative from a family of exorcists who wields a giant hammer called the Banhammer of Civility. He initially despises flamebaiters like Soji but becomes an important ally. Kiyomi Urusugawa is a girl who loves following bands and has the ability to generate restraining slime from her phone. Renri Hasumi is Kukuru's childhood friend who possesses a power called World Window, which allows him to create portals based on photographs. Hiyori Haijima is a shy but skilled fighting game player who can control puppets, while Naruhiko Emoto is a timid boy who generates defensive barriers when listening to music through his MP3 player. Their teacher, Yoimaru Azaki, is a former prodigy exorcist now dedicated to training the next generation.

The narrative unfolds through several major arcs. The first episodes establish Soji's tragic backstory, his confrontation with his sister's Ghost Account, and his enrollment at Miden Academy. As he joins Class 1-B, he must learn to work alongside classmates who initially distrust him due to his reputation as a provocateur. A significant revelation occurs when Azaki informs Soji that Akari was murdered by Sad Boy K, a high-level Ghost Account responsible for killing many people. This sets Soji on a path of vengeance that drives much of the series conflict. The story then builds toward a class tournament to determine which students will participate in a mission to exorcise Sad Boy K, with Class 1-A serving as rivals. Through battles and training, Soji develops his blue flame abilities and bonds with his classmates, each of whom carries their own personal struggles and reasons for becoming exorcists. The series adapts the manga by Shizumu Watanabe, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine in January 2023 before moving to the Magazine Pocket platform.
