Gianfranco Gamba was an Italian actor and voice actor, born in Milan on February 18, 1949. He began his career with a foundation in theater, performing with companies from the Teatro Stabile di Bolzano and the Teatro Stabile di Torino in the early 1970s. He transitioned into professional voice acting, becoming a prominent figure in the dubbing industry for over two decades.

Gamba's voice became widely recognized for its suitability for villainous and authoritative characters. One of his most iconic and celebrated roles was as the ruthless antagonist Freezer in the Mediaset dubs of the Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT anime series, a role he originated in 1999 and reprised for film redubs in 2003. His extensive anime voiceography includes a vast range of other significant parts. He voiced the title character in the animated series I viaggi di Gulliver (World Fairy Tale Series), Vanni in the second dubbing of Jane e Micci (Nozomi in the Sun), and Hanzo Hattori in Samurai Shodown: The Motion Picture. His other well-known anime roles include Jadeite in Sailor Moon, Jeff Mancinelli (Hideyuki Makimura) in City Hunter, Blaine in Pokémon, Gin in the first episodes of Detective Conan, Gambino in Berserk, and multiple characters across the Robotech series.

Beyond anime, his dubbing career was extensive, covering live-action films and television series. A particularly notable role was providing the Italian voice for Ross Marler in the long-running soap opera Sentieri from 1981. He also lent his voice to characters in animated series such as Batman (as the Riddler), The X-Men, and Mummies Alive!. His work was characterized by a distinctive tone that brought many memorable characters to life for Italian audiences. Gianfranco Gamba passed away in Milan on September 5, 2004, at the age of 55.
