Peter Doyle

Description
Peter Doyle is an American voice actor recognized for his contributions to English-language dubs of anime series and video games, particularly active from the late 1990s through the 2000s. He was born on July 8, 1963, in Grand Ledge, Michigan. Before pursuing acting, he graduated from Michigan State University in 1989 and worked as a professional cameraman. His performance background extends beyond voiceover, as he was nominated for a Garland Award for his role in a stage production of Glengarry Glen Ross. In voice acting work where he was not part of a union production, he occasionally used the alias Jim Taggert.

Doyle became a familiar presence in anime dubbing during the early 2000s, often cast in roles requiring a soft-spoken, gentle, or youthful vocal quality. Among his most noted performances is Dominic Sorel in the series Eureka Seven, a role he reprised years later for the films good night, sleep tight, young lovers in 2009 and Anemone: Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution in 2020. Another significant role was the herbalist Tanda in Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, where he provided the voice for the character in the 2007 English adaptation. He also voiced the character Mayor Avis in the series Fortune Quest L.

His extensive filmography includes a wide range of supporting and lead roles in anime. He voiced Rakushun in The Twelve Kingdoms, Masaru Aoki in Fighting Spirit, and Albert Heinrich, also known as Cyborg 004, in the 2001 Cyborg 009 series. He was the voice of Conrad in Blue Dragon and provided the voice for the younger version of the titular character in Zenki. His work also encompassed roles in Patlabor: The Movie and Patlabor 2: The Movie, as well as appearances in popular long-running series like Bleach and Naruto. In addition to anime, his voice can be heard in video games such as Star Ocean: Second Evolution, where he voiced Noel Chandler.

Around 2009, Doyle's voice acting work became scarce. During this period, he shifted his professional focus toward behind-the-scenes work in sound, including foley artistry, and faced health challenges after being diagnosed with small-cell carcinoma. He made a notable return to voice acting in 2020 to reprise his role as Dominic Sorel for the Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution film.
