Sanae Takagi

Description
Sanae Takagi is a Japanese voice actress born on May 21, 1955, in Chiba Prefecture. She is currently affiliated with Aoni Production and is married to fellow voice actor Naoki Tatsuta.

Takagi's path to voice acting was not straightforward. Initially aspiring to study music, she had to abandon this dream due to tendinitis from intense piano practice. After high school, she studied English literature but felt out of place and worked as a tourist bus guide. Her interest in voice acting was sparked by an article, leading her to join a drama school. She made her professional debut in 1976 with a role in the anime Groizer X.

Throughout her career, which began in the late 1970s, Takagi has demonstrated considerable versatility, voicing a wide range of characters from young girls and boys to mothers and elderly women. Her early work includes roles in several classic series. She voiced Jane in Anne of Green Gables in 1979 and Chiyo in the original Mobile Suit Gundam series the same year. In the early 1980s, she took on roles such as Fard Malaka in Space Runaway Ideon, Kanna Natsuyama in The Flying House, and Tenko Yokohama in Miss Machiko.

She has also been active in dubbing foreign works, providing the Japanese voice for Pinocchio in the animated special Pinocchio's Christmas. One of her most recognized roles in the 1990s was as Ikuko Tsukino, the mother of the main character, in the iconic Sailor Moon series.
