Flora Balzano

Description
Flora Balzano is a Canadian voice actor known for her extensive work on French-language dubs of anime and animated series, primarily for the Quebecois market in Canada. Born in Algiers, Algeria on May 24, 1951, she began her career in broadcasting at a radio and television station in Monte-Carlo. After immigrating to Quebec, she initially found it difficult to secure on-camera roles due to her French accent, which led her to pursue a career in dubbing.

Balzano became a prominent figure in Quebecois dubbing, providing voices for numerous protagonists and young male characters in animated series during the 1970s and 1980s. Her roles from this period include Rune in New Jungle Emperor, Go Ahead Leo! (Le Roi Léo), the title character Vic in Vic the Viking (Vic le Viking), Danny in Mahōtsukai Sally (Minifée), and the title role in Don Chuck Monogatari (Le Petit Castor). She also voiced Sebastien in Meiken Jolie (Belle et Sébastien), Saphir in Princess Knight (Le Prince Saphir), Toubon in Fables of the Green Forest (Les Contes de la forêt verte), Fritz in Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid (La Petite Sirène), and Ésope in Manga Aesop Monogatari (Les Fables d’Ésope).

Beyond these roles, Balzano's extensive filmography includes voicing the title character in Astro le petit robot, Schroeder and Pig Pen in the Quebec dub of Charlie Brown, Martin Prince in the Quebec version of The Simpsons, and various characters in the Care Bears franchise. In addition to character voices, she also sang theme songs for some series, such as Vic le Viking and Minifée.

Balzano is also an accomplished writer. In 1988, she began writing short stories for literary reviews. Her novel, Soigne ta chute, was published in 1991 and was a finalist for the prestigious Governor General's Award in the same year.
