Michie Kita was a Japanese actress and voice actor born on March 11, 1935, in Tokyo, Japan. She passed away on November 6, 2024, at the age of 89. Throughout her extensive career, she was affiliated with the talent agency Kiraboshi. Her early passion for acting led her to train at the Haiyuza Theatre Company training school, and she subsequently performed with various theater groups, including Gekidan Nakama and the Shiki Theatre Company, before focusing on voice work and on-screen roles.

Kita is perhaps best known for her iconic role as the protagonist Nello in the beloved animated series A Dog of Flanders. This role is frequently cited as her most recognized performance. Her versatility as a voice actor was famously demonstrated in this series, where she voiced a total of eight different characters, including Nello, his grandfather, and the narration, showcasing an extraordinary vocal range that allowed her to switch seamlessly between young boys, elderly women, and narrators.
