Nuria Mediavilla
Description
Nuria Mediavilla, whose birth name is Núria Fernández Quesada, is a Catalan voice actress born in Barcelona on June 22, 1966. She comes from a family with a strong tradition in dubbing, being the daughter of Pepe Mediavilla and sister of José Luis Mediavilla, both respected voice actors. Her career in dubbing began at a very young age; she started voicing characters around the age of seven and, at nine years old, provided the Spanish voice for Shirley Temple in the film The Little Colonel.
Within the realm of anime and animation, Mediavilla has several notable credits. One of her earliest and most recognized roles is providing the voice for Shiro Kabuto in the classic anime series Mazinger Z, a role she performed in 1976 when she was twelve years old. In this series, she coincidentally worked alongside her father, Pepe Mediavilla, who voiced the character Boss. Much later, she voiced the character Kyala in the 2007 animated film Highlander: The Search for Vengeance. She was also the first Catalan voice for the iconic character Arale Norimaki in the Dr. Slump series. Other animated roles include Sophie in Inspector Gadget and Corina in Mofli, the Last Koala. She has also lent her voice to characters in major Western animated productions, such as Princess Fiona in the Shrek franchise and Dory in Finding Nemo.
Beyond her work in animation, Mediavilla is one of Spain's most prominent voice actresses, known for being the regular Spanish dubbing voice for numerous international stars. These include Angelina Jolie, Uma Thurman, Helena Bonham Carter, Kate Winslet, Nicole Kidman, Cameron Diaz, Winona Ryder, and Jodie Foster, among others. She also voiced the character Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. In addition to her dubbing career, she has worked as a theater, television, and radio actress. Since 2011, she has also been sharing her expertise by teaching voice and dubbing workshops.
