Arihiro Hase was a Japanese actor and voice actor born in Tokyo on April 22, 1965. He was the son of veteran actor Sanji Hase and was active in the industry from 1982 until his death in 1996. He was formerly affiliated with Production M-3 and was a member of Sigma Club at the time of his death.
Hase is best known for his iconic role as Hikaru Ichijyo in the Macross franchise, a part he landed at the age of 17 while still in high school. He first voiced the character in the 1982 television series The Super Dimension Fortress Macross. He would go on to reprise this defining role in subsequent Macross productions, including the 1984 feature film The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? and the 1987 music video compilation The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Flash Back 2012. His portrayal of the young pilot caught in an intergalactic war remains his most celebrated work.
Beyond his signature role in Macross, Hase contributed to other series within the Super Dimension franchise. In 1984, he voiced the character Bowie Emerson in The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross. His other anime voice roles during the 1980s and 1990s included parts in series such as Captain Tsubasa, Super Dimension Century Orguss, Patlabor: The TV Series, Moomin, and Macross 7. His filmography also extended to original video animations like Metal Skin Panic MADOX-01 and live-action television dramas.
