Yannik Raiss

Description
Yannik Raiss is a German voice actor, dialogue director, and dialogue writer working in the fields of animation and video game localization. He has built a career providing German voices for characters in numerous anime series, bringing a range of personalities to life for German-speaking audiences.

Raiss's path to voice acting was shaped by a strong academic focus on language and culture. He studied media and communication sciences as well as Japanese studies at the University of Hamburg. This academic pursuit included a year abroad at Momoyama Gakuin University in Osaka, Japan, where he deepened his understanding of the Japanese language, culture, and history. During this time, he also worked as a language tutor, and after returning to Germany, he gained practical experience as a translator and intern at a Hamburg sound studio. This combination of linguistic expertise and hands-on industry work laid the foundation for his later career in dubbing.

His voice acting portfolio includes a variety of prominent anime roles. He is the German voice of Kyouya Onodera in the series Talentless Nana. He voices Satoru Kanoichi in Midnight Occult Civil Servants and Madoka Kirisaki in Battle Game in 5 Seconds. Additionally, he took on the role of Kiyoshi Inukai in the series Dog & Scissors. Beyond these leading roles, he has provided voices in a wide array of other anime productions, including JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind as Bruno Bucciarati, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations as Momoshiki Ootsutsuki, and Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation as Gyes Dedoldia. His work also extends to non-anime animation, such as voicing characters in the long-running series LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.

In addition to his work as a voice actor, Yannik Raiss has taken on significant responsibilities behind the microphone as a dialogue director. For the German dub of the anime series Midnight Occult Civil Servants, he not only voiced a character but also served as the dialogue director, overseeing the voice actors and ensuring the adaptation fit the German market. He performed a similar role for the series Otherside Picnic, where he was both the voice of the character Will Drake and the dialogue director for the entire German production. His academic background in linguistics and his direct experience with Japanese culture provide him with a unique insight into the source material, contributing to his work in adapting these stories for a new audience.
