Raiss's path to voice acting was shaped by a strong academic focus on language and culture. He studied media and communication sciences as well as Japanese studies at the University of Hamburg. This academic pursuit included a year abroad at Momoyama Gakuin University in Osaka, Japan, where he deepened his understanding of the Japanese language, culture, and history. During this time, he also worked as a language tutor, and after returning to Germany, he gained practical experience as a translator and intern at a Hamburg sound studio.
