Richard Ian Cox is a Welsh-born Canadian actor best known for his extensive voice work in English-language anime dubs and animated series. Born in St. Asaph, Wales, he began acting at the age of nine and moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, as a teenager, turning professional at fourteen. His early career included a prominent live-action role as Alec Ramsay in the early 1990s television series The Adventures of the Black Stallion, opposite Mickey Rooney.
Cox's voice acting career includes the specific roles of Cacao in the fantasy comedy anime Trouble Chocolate, Scattorshot in Transformers: Cybertron, and the title character in the InuYasha video InuYasha: The Tragic Love Song of Destiny, which is part of the long-running InuYasha franchise. He gained significant fame for voicing the half-demon InuYasha across the main series, all four feature films, and the sequel series Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, becoming closely identified with the role. His other major anime credits include Bit Cloud in Zoids: New Century Zero, the male Ranma Saotome in the later seasons of Ranma ½, and various characters in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, such as Kai Shiden and Allelujah Haptism.
