Masayoshi Sugawara is a Japanese voice actor from Hokkaido, born on November 4th. He is affiliated with the talent management firm Ken Production. His career began in the late 2000s, with some of his earliest voice work in video games released in 2008. To prepare for his career, he studied at the Sapporo branch of the Yoyogi Animation Academy and is a graduate of the voice actor training school School Duo, where he was part of the tenth graduating class.

Sugawara has built a diverse portfolio of roles across anime, video games, and dubbed versions of foreign films and television series. In anime, he is perhaps best known for his extensive work within the Duel Masters franchise. He has voiced several characters across different series, including the role of Hokaben in Duel Masters VS and subsequent series, Colonel Rabbit in Duel Masters!, and Paparin, whose real name is Guts Kirifuda, in Duel Masters WIN. Another notable role is the aristocratic officer Alfred von Landsberg in the modern anime adaptation Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These, appearing in its Second, Collision, and other installments.

Beyond these roles, Sugawara has contributed to many other well-known anime. He has recurring roles as美波一輝 (Minami Kazuki) in the Free! series, including Free! -Eternal Summer- and Free! -Dive to the Future-. He has also appeared in multiple episodes of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, playing characters such as a Researcher and Vampire in the first season and an adult in Stardust Crusaders. His work in白箱 (Shirobako) includes voicing木佐光秀 (Mitsuhide Kisa),中垣内伸昭 (Nobuaki Nakagaito), and other characters. His film credits include roles in the theatrical releases of Ghost in the Shell: ARISE, the Shirobako movie, and the Free! films.

In addition to his anime work, Sugawara is active in video game voice acting and dubbing. He provided the Japanese voice for the character MacCready in the popular game Fallout 4. His dubbing work includes voicing Sam in the animated series Green Eggs and Ham and James Larison in Oddbods. Sugawara has also lent his voice to local commercials in his home region, such as for Sapporo University.

Sugawara has a range of interests that connect to his professional life, including sports, singing, and playing the piano. His involvement in card game anime like Duel Masters sparked a deep personal interest in board games and card games. In 2019, he launched his own YouTube channel called Project Seiyu, where he shares content focused on his hobby of playing games.
