Yamil Atala is a prominent Mexican actor and director in the field of dubbing, widely recognized for his extensive voice work in anime, animated series, and live-action films for the Latin American Spanish market. Born on February 5, 1962, he pursued a comprehensive education in the performing arts and communication, studying dramatic art at the Instituto Andrés Soler of the ANDA, and both Communication Sciences and Cinematographic Discourse at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). His training also included music and theater workshops. He began his career in dubbing in September 1980 under the mentorship of Armando Coria Sr., with his first participation being in the series Fantasy Island.
Atala's career is marked by a wide array of iconic anime roles that have spanned decades. He is notably the primary voice actor for Leo Aiolia (Aioria de Leo) in the Saint Seiya franchise, having voiced the character in the classic series, The Hades Chapter saga on DVD, and various films and video games. He also brought to life the villainous Pilaf across the Dragon Ball franchise, from the original series to Dragon Ball Super. Another significant role is Kero-chan (Kerberos) in Sakura Card Captors and its sequel Clear Card.
