Takeshi Katō was a Japanese actor and voice actor born on May 24, 1929, in Tokyo, Japan. He was a graduate of the English literature department at Waseda University. Following his education, he joined the theatrical troupe Bungakuza, becoming a representative member of the organization. He died on July 31, 2015, at the age of eighty-six.

While he had a career in voice acting for anime, Katō was also a prolific live-action performer. He was known as a distinctive supporting actor in the films of renowned directors, appearing in Akira Kurosawa’s The Bad Sleep Well and High and Low, as well as Kon Ichikawa’s The Inugami Family. For his performance in the film The Devil's Bouncing Ball Song (also known as The Inugami Family), he won the Japan Academy Prize for Best Supporting Actor.

In the field of animation, Katō provided voices for several productions. His role as Pirate Silver in the 1965 adventure film New Treasure Island (Shin Takarajima), produced by Mushi Production, is documented. His filmography also includes the role of Gorō Horikawa in The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Kamamushi in The Phoenix: Chapter of Dawn, the Vizier in Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp, Takeshi Suzuka in Odin - Starlight Mutiny, and Dr. Nominos (also known as Zombiecat) in Tamala 2010.
